so i have a confession. i didn't eat any oats on saturday. i definitely thought about oats all day though, so that kind of counts. i had the perfect idea all planned out, but then i slept in and woke up 15 minutes before i was supposed to leave for work, so it just didn't happen. on friday however, i had my first ever bowl of savory oatmeal...
oh my lord. i don't know why it has taken me so long to make a bowl of these. i guess probably its mostly because i tend to go for sweeter things in the morning and then focus lunch and dinner on the savory, but wow. these were beautiful.
i decided that for my first try i should keep it simple, nothing too crazy. this bowl had
*capers
*leftover lemon chutney
*olive oil
*salt
*pepper
and i would have thrown some avocado on top but we had none. didn't really miss it though.
zesty and wonderful
this morning i went for something completely opposite. i could not get the idea of a big bowl of super creamy, sweet oats out of my head.
*dried figs
*coconut milk
*cardamom
*vanilla
*macadamia nuts
*frozen berries
*turbinado sugar
scrumptious.
i am seeing more savory oats in the near future, so keep your eyes peeled. i feel like i've bridged the gap between worlds now, and anything is possible.
